Poesque – Introducing BPS stamping plate 03

Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a wonderful time during the holidays. The highlights of my holidays were spending quality time with my nephew and niece and watching the Doctor Who and Black Mirror Christmas’ specials. Before the holidays I went to a play written by one of my teachers. It was an amazing mix of Poe’s stories called “Miradas que mueren” (Looks that Die), and of course I just had to make a nail art accordingly!

¡¡Feliz Año Nuevo!! Espero que todos la hayan pasado genial en las fiestas. Lo mejor para mí fue pasar lindos ratos con mis sobrinos y ver los especiales de Navidad de Doctor Who y Black Mirror. Antes de las fiestas, fui a una obra de teatro escrita por una de mis profesoras. Era una increíble mezcla de historias de Poe llamada “Miradas que mueren”, ¡y obvio que tenía que hacerme un nail art sobre el tema!

I had little time, so I chose a base color that dries fast: two coats of Kiko 303 Beige Chrome followed by Seche Vite. Then I stamped with Born Pretty Store plate 03 and Konad black polish. I though the arabesques were quite Poesque, and what a better choice than a black cat! My only problem was the cat’s tail! Ugh, I only got it right on paper, not a single time on my nails. I believe the problem was the heat (it’s summer around here!) which dried the polish too fast.

Tenía poco tiempo, así que elegí un color de base que se secara rápido: dos capas de Kiko 303 Beige Chrome seguido de Seche Vite. Luego estampé con la placa 03 de Born Pretty Store y esmalte negro de Konad. Me pareció que los arabescos eran muy Poe, ¡y qué mejor elección que un gato negro! ¡Mi único problema fue la cola del gato! Uuff, sólo me salió bien sobre un papel, ni una vez sobre las uñas. Creo que el problema fue el calor que secaba el esmalte muy rápido.

As you might tell, I did this mani quite fast, but I still loved the result: simple and cute!

New set of stamping plates from Born Pretty Store

Hello, everyone! This has been a very long and hard year. My academic life did not let me continue with the blog, and my nails suffered terribly! I’m going to paint them more often now, so I hope I can strengthen them. I’m very happy to tell you that I was able to receive some very exciting samples from Born Pretty Store. So let’s talk about that!

Ahora que me las voy a pintar más seguido, espero que se fortalezcan. Estoy muy contenta por contarles que pude recibir unas muestras muy emocionantes de Born Pretty Store. ¡Vamos a hablar de eso!

These are the first ten stamping plates from Born Pretty Store’s new collection. The set is currently sold out, but you can purchase some of the plates separately. It seems the collection is a success, and I’m not surprised because the plates are incredibly beautiful.

Estas son las primeras diez placas de estampado de la nueva colección de Born Pretty Story. El set está agotado por el momento, pero pueden comprar algunas de las placas por separado. Parece que la colección es un éxito, y no me sorprende porque las placas son increíblemente hermosas.

The first plate has Christmassy patterns, perfect for this month. I really love the central image, it’s great for my thumb and it looks very festive. This plate is sold out, let’s hope they bring it back soon.

La primera placa tiene motives navideños, perfecta para este mes. Me gusta mucho la imagen central, es genial para el pulgar y queda muy festiva. Esta placa está agotada, esperemos que la vendan otra vez pronto.

This is one of my favorite plates of the collection and it’s full of laces. Some look like crochet and I love that because I’m a knitter. I bet these patterns will look very classy on my nails.

Esta es una de mis placas favoritas de la colección, y está llena de puntillas. Algunas parecen crochet, y me encanta porque soy de tejer. Seguro que estos motivos van a quedar muy elegantes en mis uñas.

Here we have roses, stars and kittens. What a marvelous combination!

Acá tenemos rosas, estrellas y gatitos. ¡Qué combinación tan maravillosa!

This might not be my first choice, but I think the feathers of the peacocks will look great on a colorful nail art.

Puede que esta no sea mi primera elección, pero creo que las plumas de los pavos reales se verán geniales en un nail art colorido.

Quite an interesting choice of patterns… I like how exotic they look and how big they are!

Definitely, my favorite! I’m a Sailor Moon fan, so this plate is perfect for me. I can’t wait to do a themed nail art!

This plate has a little bit of everything: butterflies, flowers, and fun patterns. The plate they are selling now is a bit different from this one.

Here we have a big butterfly that won’t fit entirely on a nail, but I still want to see how it looks like. Love all these flowery patterns!

I like the amount of different patterns here, but as they are too close, I think I will have to use a piece of paper to enclose the part I want to use.

Me gusta la cantidad de motivos distintos acá, pero al estar tan juntos, creo que tendré que usar un papel para enmarcar la parte que quiero usar.

This plate is simply gorgeous! Very intricate. I love how you don’t have to do the same pattern on each nail but it’s still the same style.

¡Esta placa es simplemente Hermosa! Muy intricada. Me encanta porque no hay que usar el mismo motivo en todas las uñas, pero se mantiene el estilo.

Born Pretty Store – Stamping Plate QA65

Hello, ladies! I’m not dead! I’m so sorry for disappearing. I don’t what happened to me, I didn’t plan to go on a hiatus. I think I was really bummed because of this problem with international purchases. Oh well, here I am again. University is killing me, but I’ll try to post at least once per week, on Fridays probably. Let’s see how it goes.

Today I’m going to show you some bad stamping. I can’t seem to improve on this technique, but I love it nonetheless. The plate I used is the QA65 from Born Pretty Store and I have to say I’m pretty impress by the quality. It’s far better than the last one I tried. It stamps pretty smoothly. I used China Glaze Liquid Leather and Dandy Lyin’ Around as bases and stamped with Konad polishes black and white. Of course I finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

¡Hola, chicas! ¡No estoy muerta! Perdón por desaparecer. No sé qué me pasó, no planeé dejar de postear. Creo que me bajoneó mucho el problema de las compras internacionales. Bueno, ya volví. La universidad me está matando, pero voy a tratar de postear al menos una vez a la semana, probablemente los viernes. Ya veremos cómo sale.

Hoy le voy a mostrar un poco de stamping feíto. Parece que no puedo mejorar en esta técnica, pero igual la amo. Usé la placa QA65 de Born Pretty Store y tengo que decir que me impresionó mucho la calidad. Es mucho mejor que la última que probé. Estampa muy bien. Usé Liquid Leather y Dandy Lyin’ Around de China Glaze como base y estampé con los esmaltes blanco y negro de Konad. Por supuesto que terminé con una capa de Seche Vite.

I really love the patterns on this plate; they’re slightly bigger than other full-nail patterns, which is nice because I have big nails!

Born Pretty Store – French Manicure with Water Decals

Hello! So sorry I’ve been away. I’ve signed up to an online course about Fantasy and Science Fiction and I have to read one book per week and right an essay about it. It’s a great way to improve my English writing, but it’s pretty intense! Right now, I’m rereading Dracula. I’ve no idea what I’m going to right about, though! The course is from the University of Michigan and I’m learning so much interesting stuff!! I’ll tell you more about it later.

¡Hola! Perdón por estar desaparecida. Me anoté en un curso online sobre Fantasía y Ciencia Ficción, y tengo que un libro por semana y escribir un ensayo sobre el mismo. Es una forma genial de mejorar mi escritura en inglés, ¡pero es muy intenso! Ahora mismo estoy releyendo Drácula. ¡Aunque no tengo idea de qué voy a escribir! El curso es de la Universidad de Michigan ¡y estoy aprendiendo un montón de cosas interesantes! Les contaré más después.

In other news, I’m so happy to tell you that I’ve received four of my six pending packages! The samples from Born Pretty Store were one of those, so yay!! This water decal was not exactly the one I wanted to try, but it’s lovely as well. I decided to do a French manicure because I liked the idea of using those weird borders. The result was not perfect, but at least looked cute. I first painted two coats of L’Oreal 102 Macaron Noisette. I really have a love/hate relationship with the Colour Riche collection: the colors are gorgeous and fun but the formula is so terrible! Then I cut the water decal, put the pieces in water and then on my tips. I let them dry and finished with one coat of Seche Vite.

Otras novedades, ¡me pone contenta contarles que recibí cuatro de los seis paquetes que esperaba! Uno de esos fueron las muestras de Born Pretty Store, ¡buenísimo! Este water decal no es exactamente el que quería probar, pero es muy lindo igual. Decidí hacer una francesita porque me gustaba la idea de usar esos bordes raros. El resultado no fue perfecto, pero al menos quedó tierno. Primero pinté dos capas de Macaron Noisette 102 de L’Oreal. Tengo una relación de amor-odio con la colección Colour Riche: los colores son divinos y divertidos, ¡pero la fórmula es tan mala! Después corté el water decal, puse los pedacitos en agua y después en las puntas de las uñas. Dejé que secaran y terminé con una capa de Seche Vite.

Make sure to check the rest of the decals out, they’re so dreamy! I hope I can grab one of those oil paintings some day!

No se olviden de chusmear el resto de los decals, ¡son tan lindos! ¡Espero algún día poder conseguir uno de esas pinturas al óleo!

Austen-esque

Hello there! I had some very Austen days: my friend Laure and I read Austenland in our book club, which totally led to rewatching all Austen-related movies and, of course, we also watched Austenland the movie. I really loved the book; who wouldn’t want to spend three weeks in an Austen theme park wearing pretty dresses, doing nothing all day and having your own romantic story?! The movie was lovely as well and the cast was perfect.

¡Hola a todas! Tuve unos días muy Austenianos: mi amiga Laure y yo leímos Austenland en nuestro club de lectura, y nos re llevó a volver a ver todas las películas relacionadas con Austen y, por supuesto, también vimos la película Austenland. Adoré el libro; ¡¿a quién no le encantaría pasar tres semanas en un parque temático de Austen usando vestidos lindos, sin hacer nada todo el día y tener tu propia historia de amor?! La película fue adorable también, y el reparto, perfecto.

Of course, I had to do some nails to match all the cheesy stuff I was reading and watching. I tried to do something simple and pretty. I first painted two coats of Kiko Light Peach 359. Just WOW. This polish is so gorgeous I can’t even stand it! The formula is perfect, as in every Kiko I own. Then I stamped using Konad black polish and MoYou London Pro Collection plate 04. I finished with Seche Vite and done!

Obvio que tenía que hacerme algo en las uñas que combinara con todas las cursiladas que estaba leyendo y viendo. Intenté hacer algo simple y lindo. Primero me pinté dos capas de Ligh Peach 359 de Kiko. GUAU. ¡Este esmalte es tan hermoso que no lo puedo soportar! La fórmula es perfecta, como en todos los Kiko que tengo. Después estampé usando esmalte negro de Konad y la placa 04 de la colección Pro de MoYou London. Terminé con una capa de Seche Vite, ¡y listo!

My stamping is not perfect, but still I think it’s one of my favorite manis up to this day!

¡Mi estampado no es perfecto, pero igual creo que es una de mis manis favoritas hasta hoy!

OPI – The Impossible

Hello, ladies! I’ve been a little under the weather… Among other things, I came home to the awful news that Argentineans are no longer allowed to buy stuff on the internet (in dollars) without letting the government know everything about it (which involves a lot of complicated paperwork to receive the packages and we also have to pay the 50% if the price is over $25) AND we can only make TWO (2) purchases per year. So it sucks big time. I understand they had to do something about the dollar thing, but this was not the way. And it seems this is going to affect those packages that we haven’t even paid like prizes from giveaways and products for reviews. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to receive any of the six packages I have in transit. I feel so bad because people wasted money to send me prizes and products… Oh, well… We’ll see what happens.

¡Hola, chicas! Estoy un poco mal… Entre otras cosas, volví a casa y recibí la noticia horrible de que los argentinos ya no podemos comprar cosas en internet (en dólares) sin que el gobierno sepa todo (se necesita un montón de papeleo complicado para recibir los paquetes y también hay que pagar el 50% si el precio pasa los $25) y sólo podemos hacer DOS (2) compras por año. Es una porquería todo. Entiendo que tenían que hacer algo con el tema del dólar, pero esta no era la manera. Y parece que va a afectar a los paquetes que ni siquiera pagamos como premios de concursos y productos para reseñas. No sé si voy a poder recibir alguno de los seis paquetes que tengo en camino. Me siento muy mal porque hay gente que desperdició plata para mandarme premios y productos… Bueh… Veremos qué pasa.

To cheer me up I decided to wear OPI The Impossible, one of the minis I won from a giveaway Sabrina from Polish Alcoholic made long time ago. I never showed these liquid sands because my camera refuses to capture the right color! So here we have pictures from my cell phone.

Para levantarme el ánimo decidí usar The Impossible de OPI, uno de los minis que gané de un concurso que hizo hace rato Sabrina de Polish Alcoholic. Nunca mostré estos arenados porque mi cámara se niega a capturar el color correcto. Así que acá van unas fotos de mi celular.

This is my favorite polish of the set of four minis, and I will try to buy the full size bottle when I’ve ran out of it. It reminds me of raspberries and summer. It’s so lovely! The Impossible not only was the first textured polish I tried, but my first OPI, too! The formula is great and two coats are enough. I tried it with top coat and I absolutely hate it that way!

Este es mi esmalte favorito del set de cuatro minis, y voy a tratar de comprar la botellita de tamaño normal cuando se me termine. Me hace acordar al color de las frambuesas y al verano en general. ¡Es muy lindo! The Impossible no sólo fue el primer esmalte texturado que probé, ¡sino también mi primer OPI! La fórmula es genial y dos capas son más que suficientes. Lo probé con top coat ¡y no me gusta para nada!

Born Pretty Store – Dazzling Rhinestoned Studs

Hello, ladies! This is my last post for a week or so. I’m going on vacations to a gorgeous place called San Martín de los Andes. Let’s hope I can go to the duty-free shop in the border with Chile and buy some discounted polishes!

Okay, the third review of Born Pretty Store’s products is an unconventional kind of nail art: it’s a big and dazzling stud! I love shiny things, so I really wanted to try it and see whether it’s a terrible idea or not.

¡Hola, chicas! Este es mi último post durante una semana más o menos. Me voy de vacaciones a este lugar hermoso que es San Martín de los Andes. ¡Esperemos que pueda ir al free shop en la frontera con Chile para comprar algunos esmaltes más baratos!

Bueno, la tercera reseña de los productos de Born Pretty Store es un nail art poco convencional: ¡es un broche enorme y brillante! Me encantan las cosas brillantes, así que de verdad quería probarlo y ver si es una idea malísima o no.

In the pics I’m wearing three coats of Maybelline Chrome Purple, which I’m never going to use again: the formula is truly horrible. At least it dries fast! I used only one stud on each hand because they’re so big, and I though two would be too much. I made the mistake of chopping off my nails before doing this review, so the studs were longer than my nails! I applied them with a cheap glue (I’m not sure it’s an actual glue, it might as well be just thick top coat). I put a big blob on the stud and then pressed it on the nail. I wore them for two hours, but when I washed my hands, the studs fell off. I think the glue never really dried, so I recommend using a proper glue if you’re planning to wear the studs more than a few hours.

En las fotos estoy usando tres capas de  Chrome Purple de Maybelline, al que nunca voy a volver a usar: la fórmula es muy mala. ¡Al menos se seca rápido! Nomás usé un broche en cada mano porque son tan grandes, y me pareció que dos serían demasiado. Cometí el error de cortarme las uñas antes de hacer esta reseña, ¡así que los broches eran más largos que mis uñas! Los apliqué con un pegamento barato de Todo Moda (no estoy segura de si es un pegamento de verdad, a lo mejor nomás es un top coat espeso). Puse una gota grandes en el broche y después lo presioné contra la uña. Los usé durante dos horas, pero cuando me lavé las manos, los broches se despegaron. Creo que el pegamento nunca se secó, así que recomiendo usar uno bueno si planean usar los broches más de un par de horas.

Now, what do I think of it? I love it! It was nice wearing something so sparkling… I really wish I had a nice party soon so I could wear these studs while holding a glass of champagne lol It wasn’t annoying to wear, but you have to get used to it and be careful not to tangle up on things.

Entonces, ¿qué me parece? ¡Me encanta! Fue lindo usar algo tan brillante… Ojalá tuviera una linda fiesta así podría usar los broches mientras sostengo una copa de champagne jaja No fue molesto usarlos, pero hay que acostumbrarse y tener cuidado de no engancharse con nada.

Born Pretty Store – Yellow Roses

Hello there! How are you? Let’s see more water decals from Born Pretty Store! Ah, yellow roses… My favorite! One time I saw someone selling roses and I asked for a yellow one. The seller gave me a weird look and said yellow meant hate so they wouldn’t sell yellow roses! I was so upset and I felt so bad for the poor unloved yellow roses! Made me want them even more!

For this mani, I wanted to add something to the background. I started with Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat and two coats of L’Oreal New Money, which is just perfect! (Thank you, Eva!). Then I did some lines using my liner brush and China Glaze White on White. When it was all dry, I put the decals in water, peeled them off and placed them on the nails. I finished with Seche Vite and done! These decals were even easier to work with than the ones from the previous mani, and I also have another set of ten roses for another mani. Yay!

¡Hola a todas! ¿Cómo están? ¡Veamos más water decals de Born Pretty Store! Ay, rosas amarillas… ¡Son mis favoritas! Una vez vi que vendían rosas en un lugar y pedí una amarilla. La vendedora me miró raro y dijo que el amarillo significa odio, ¡así que no vendían rosas amarillas! ¡Me re enojé y me puse mal por todas las rosas amarillas que nadie quería! ¡Me hizo quererlas más todavía!

En esta mani quería agregar algo al fondo. Empecé con Quick Dry Base Coat de Revlon y dos capas de New Money de L’Oreal, ¡que es perfecto! (¡Muchas gracias, Eva!). Después hice algunas líneas con un pincel fino y White on White de China Glaze. Cuando estuvo todo seco, metí los decals en agua, los despegué y los ubiqué en las uñas. ¡Terminé con Seche Vite y listo! Estos decals fueron incluso más fáciles de usar que los de la mani anterior, y también me quedó un set de diez rosas para usar en otra mani. ¡Genial!

Born Pretty Store – Flowery Water Decals

Hello! How’s 2014 treating you so far? I haven’t done much… I did chop off my nails. They were feeling weird and I needed it. I’m terrible at shaping them, so be nice with me!

The lovely people from Born Pretty Store sent me a few nail art supplies, so let’s see the first one! These are water decals with flowers! Shocker, uh? I can’t help it, I’m a fan! The second item are more flowery water decals, but I promise you they third one is something I have never tried before.

Here I used Revlon Quick Dry Base coat (it’s not bad!) and three coats of Esencia Vital Jade ( loooove it!). When it was all dry, I put the decals in water, peeled them off and placed them on the nails. The application was easy, but with these decals I recommend using your fingertips instead of tweezers. I finished with Seche Vite and done!

¡Hola! ¿Cómo las trata el 2014 hasta ahora? Yo no hice mucho… Lo que sí hice fue cortarme las uñas. Las sentía raras y me hacía falta cortarlas. Soy malísima para darles forma, ¡así que sean buenas conmigo!

La gente divina de Born Pretty Store me mandó algunas cositas de nail art, ¡así que veamos la primera! ¡Son water decals con flores! Qué raro, ¿no? No lo puedo evitar, ¡soy re fan! El segundo producto también son water decals con flores, pero les prometo que el tercero es algo que nunca probé.

Acá usé Quick Dry Base Coat de Revlon (¡no está nada mal!) y tres capas de Jade de Esencia Vital (¡me encaaaanta!). Cuando estuvo todo seco, metí los decals en agua, los despegué y los ubiqué en las uñas. La aplicación fue fácil, pero con estos decals recomiendo usar las yemas de los dedos en lugar de una pincita. ¡Terminé con Seche Vite y listo!

I think it’s a very delicate manicure and with no extra effort! I love that I still have a set of ten flowers to use in another mani.

Happy 2014!

Happy New Year! I hope 2014 brings you all the nice things you deserve and tons of happiness! I had a fun time last night with my family and now I’m just having a quiet day while awaiting the new episode of Sherlock.

I know I said I was going to do something simpler for this mani, but I ended up doing a pastel gradient skittles. I can’t believe I have this technique almost mastered! My first attempts a few months ago were terrible, but I read somewhere (I can’t remember where!) that the sponge should be a bit wet and that changed everything. I love the look, so I think I’m going to do a lot of gradients in the future. I hope I remember to tape the cuticles next time, though!

¡Feliz Año Nuevo! ¡Espero que el 2014 les traiga todas las cosas lindas que se merecen y un montón de felicidad! La pasé re lindo anoche con mi familia, y ahora paso un día tranquilo mientras espero el nuevo episodio de Sherlock.

Sé que dije que iba a hacer algo más simple para esta mani, pero terminé haciendo un skittles de gradientes pasteles. ¡No puedo creer que ya casi dominé esta técnica! Los primeros intentos de hace algunos meses fueron horribles, pero leí en algún lugar (¡no me acuerdo en dónde!) que la esponja tiene que estar un poco húmeda, y eso cambió todo. Me encanta cómo queda, así que creo que voy a hacer un montón de gradientes en el futuro. ¡Espero acordarme de ponerle cinta a las cutículas la próxima vez!

I’m still very much in love with the ILNP holo topcoat!! It was the perfect touch. And how cute are the fimos?!
