Cone of Shame: BeautyBay

I had another post planned for today, but something happened and I have to address it. Back in February I purchase some stuff from BeautyBay: moisturizing gloves, China Glaze Running in Circles and Seche Vite (£20.53 in total). Of course, the package never arrived; I suppose the Royal Mail destroyed it. BeautyBay didn’t act quickly on this matter; they kept receiving international orders purchasing nail polishes, so I thought they had the thing worked out. They didn’t.

I waited and waited until they let me fill a refund form (even though I wasn’t against receiving other make-up products for the value I’ve spent). Then I waited a lot more to found out that something got wrong and instead of refund me the money, BeautyBay charged me the same amount AGAIN. Yep, I had to pay it because my credit card issuer said that’s the order they‘d received. Cool, huh?

Today I got an email from BeautyBay saying that it’s all problem of the card issuer. Yeah, maybe it is, but that doesn’t solve the problem that I’ve paid £41.06 for literally NOTHING. And that’s a lot of wasted money for me. I asked them to refund me the money through Paypal and avoid whatever is happening with the credit card, but they won’t do it.

SHAME ON YOU, BEAUTYBAY.

Tenía otro post planeado para hoy, pero pasó algo y tengo que comentarlo. En febrero compré algunas cosas en BeautyBay: guantes hidratantes, Running in Circles de China Glaze y Seche Vite ((£20.53 en total). Por supuesto, el paquete nunca llegó; supongo que el Royal Mail lo destruyó. BeautyBay no actuó rápido en este tema; siguieron recibiendo pedidos internacionales en donde compraban esmaltes, así que pensé que tenían todo resuelto. No era así.

Esperé mucho tiempo hasta que me dejaron completar un formulario para solicitar un reintegro (aunque a mí no me molestaba recibir otros productos de maquillaje por el mismo valor que había gastado). Esperé mucho más para descubrir que algo salió mal y, en lugar de reintegrarme la plata, BeautyBay me cobró el mismo monto OTRA VEZ. Sí, tuve que pagarlo porque los de la tarjeta de crédito dijeron que esa es la orden que recibieron. Buenísimo, ¿no?

Hoy recibí un mail de BeautyBay diciendo que todo es problema de la tarjeta de crédito. A lo mejor es cierto, pero eso no resuelve mi problema de que gasté £41.06 en literalmente NADA. Y es un montón de plata desperdiciada para mí. Les pedí que me reintegren la plata por Paypal y evitar lo que sea que pasa con la tarjeta, pero no quieren.

Hola, gente linda. Este es mi primer post aquí y estoy extremadamente contenta de conocerlos a todos. Gracias a Daniela por darme esta oportunidad. A ella le gustó mucho mi nail art con una pajita en mi blog, así que decidí recrear el mismo (en realidad esta es una versión mejor de la que hice para mi blog :P) ¡y gracias a Dios por eso!

Now, this is super easy and fun nail art. I am huge fan of nail art and even greater fan of nail art with household items. For this nail art all you need is straws (and of course nail paints). To be honest, I did not even use them :P. I had bought nail art brushes long back and I am very careful with their packing. I put the brushes back in the pack every time I use it :) To cover the bristles of the brushes, each brush has a cap/cover kind of thing which is open from both ends. They are like straws cut to 1 cm size and inserted on the top of each brush. So, I actually used one of them and didn’t even waste a straw: P (see how smart I am – well that’s what I told my husband at least :D ). Now, I am big story teller so I am literally stopping myself coming to the nail art :)

Este es un nail art súper fácil y divertido. Soy una gran fan del nail art y más aún de nail art que se puede hacer con ítems hogareños. Para este nail art solo necesitas sorbetes (y esmaltes, por supuesto). Para ser sincera, ni siquiera los usé :P Había comprado pinceles de nail art hace mucho tiempo y soy muy cuidadosa con el embalaje. Pongo los pinceles de vuelta en su paquete cada vez que los uso :) Para cubrir las cerdas de los pinceles, cada uno tiene una tapa abierta en las dos puntas. Son como sorbetes de 1 cm que van insertados en la punta de cada pincel. Así que usé uno de ellos y no desperdicié un sorbete :P (¿Ven cuán inteligente soy? Bueno, eso me dice mi marido :D) Cuento muchas historias, así que me voy a detener y volver al nail art.

Items Used

• White Nail Paint
• Bright Pink Acrylic Paint (You could use a nail paint instead)
• Orange Acrylic Paint (You could use a nail paint instead)
• Top Coat
• Base Coat

Items utilizados

• Esmalte blanco.
• Pintura acrílica rosa fuerte (puedes usar esmalte si quieres).
• Pintura acrílica naranja (puedes usar esmalte si quieres).
• Top coat.
• Base coat.

How to get those Full Moons and Half Moons with Straw

1. Clean, cut and file your nails. Pat them dry.
2. Do the base coat ritual and allow them to dry.
3. Apply the white nail paint as the base color on all your fingers.
4. Take a straw and cut it to 2 cm size. One cut piece is sufficient for entire nail art :P
5. Put the pink color on palette and dip the straw end in pink color first such that the color clings to the straw circle. That’s it; the fun begins here – just touch the straw on your white canvas and sees those making amazing impressions of full moon or half moon.
6. Do this for all nails with pink color and then from the other end of the straw with orange color and make impressions on nails again. Do not bother or worry if you have more of crescent moons or half moons than full ones :) You don’t have to worry for symmetry, they are best when random :)
7. Keep your moon by your side longer by finishing with top coat.

And you have the colorful and fun nail art on you :) Also go through the additional information below to get some help and workaround for this nail art.

Cómo hacer esas lunas llenas y media lunas con un sorbete

1. Limpia, corta y lima tus uñas. Sécalas del todo.
2. Pon tu base coat y déjalas secar.
3. Aplica el esmalte blanco como color de base.
4. Toma un sorbete y córtalo a 2 cm de largo. Un pedazo es suficiente para todo el nail art :P
5. Pon el color rosa en una paleta y moja el sorbete dejando que el color entre en el círculo. Y aquí empieza la diversión: solo toca tu lienzo blanco con el sorbete y ve cómo quedan esas asombrosas impresiones de lunas llenas y media lunas.
6. Haz esto en todas tus uñas con el color rosa, y luego con la otra punta del sorbete, hazlo con el color naranja. No te preocupes si tienes más media lunas que lunas llenas :) No te preocupes por la simetría. Queda mejor cuando es al azar :)
7. Termina con una capa de top coat para que tus lunas duren más.

Additional Info:

• When you touch the straw in color, you may see film of color formed on the straw end. Now, we only want color on the circle periphery not the entire circle. So blow some air through the straw from the other end of the straw to get rid of the film.
• You could do some other design or chevron etc using the three colors on your ring finer to give a complex yet funky look to the nail art.
• It is much easier and cheaper to use acrylic paint for these nail arts (I believe most of the nail arts). Read my post on Use Acrylic Paints to design your Nail Art to be convinced of what I am saying :)

• Cuando mojas el sorbete en el color, puede que se forme una capa de color en la punta. Pero solo queremos color en la periferia del círculo, no en el círculo entero. Así que sopla por el sorbete desde la otra punta para deshacerte de esa capa.
• Puedes hacer otro diseño, chevron o algo así, usando los tres colores en tu dedo anular para darle un look complejo y divertido al nail art.
• Es más fácil y barato usar pintura acrílica para estos nail arts (creo que para la mayoría de los nail arts). Lee mi post sobre usar pinturas acrílicas para diseñar tu nail art para convencerte de lo que estoy diciendo :)

Happy Iron Man Day!

Hello!! I’m not dead, I’m just super overwhelmed by homework and, as you can see, I don’t know how to multitask. I’ve been wearing some interesting stuff on my nails lately… Stuff I won on two giveaways… But I’m going to show you that in some other time, because today it’s IRON MAN DAY!

I wasn’t a big fan of Iron Man when I was a child (I was an X-Men kind of girl), but since the first movie came out and my brother wouldn’t shut up about how awesome it was… I watched it, fell in love and gave my soul to the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase One! Now we’re starting the Phase Two and everything is AMAZING!

The movie came out today in Argentina, but I have tickets for Friday night. I was feeling bad for not going to the movies on the first day, so I worked on my nails. They’re not discreet; they’re very very Tony style. And they’re so sparkly OMG I started with two coats of Colorama Tapete Vermelho (because I wanted a light red, so it wouldn’t cover the red glitter), one coat of China Glaze Electrify, then I applied glequins from BornPrettyStore all around the nail and finished with two coats of top coat. I know it doesn’t look like an Iron Man mani, but it does to me. And the most important part: it was fun!

¡Hola! No me morí, nomás estoy súper agotada con tanta tarea y, como pueden ver, no sé cómo hacer muchas cosas al mismo tiempo. He estado usando cosas muy interesantes en las uñas últimamente… Cosas que gané en dos concursos… Pero se los voy a mostrar en otro momento, porque hoy es ¡DÍA DE IRON MAN!

No era muy fanática de Iron Man cuando era chiquita (me gustaban más los X-Men), pero desde que salió la primera película y mi hermano no dejaba de joder con lo buena que estaba… La vi, me enamoré ¡y le di mi alma a la Fase Uno del Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel! ¡Ahora estamos comenzando la Fase Dos y todo es MARAVILLOSO!

La película salió hoy en Argentina, pero tengo entradas para el viernes a la noche. Me sentía mal por no ir al cine en el primer día, así que me puse a trabajar en las uñas. No son discretas; son muy del estilo de Tony. Y son muy brillantes OMG Empecé con dos capas de Tapete Vermelho de Colorama (porque quería un rojo claro que no tapara el glitter rojo), una capa de Electrify de China Glaze, luego apliqué las escamitas de BornPrettyStore en los bordes de las uñas y terminé con dos capas de top coat. Ya sé que no parece una manicura de Iron Man, pero sí lo es para mí. Y lo más importante: ¡fue divertido!

27 Polish – Upvotes & Downvotes and The Midas Touch

Hello! I don’t have so much homework for tomorrow, so I’m going to show you the polishes I wore last week. These are my last pictures with long nails; I’m going to chop them off as soon as I finish writing this. They’re very weak :(

¡Hola! No tengo tanta tarea para mañana, así que les voy a mostrar los esmaltes que usé la semana pasada. Estas son las últimas fotos con las uñas largas; me las voy a cortar en cuanto termine de escribir esto. Están muy débiles :(

The first polish I tried was The Midas Touch. Such a GREAT name! It was truly like wearing gold in my nails. This polish has a ton of golden hexes, a few of golden stars (they’re not difficult to find) and small golden glitter on a golden base, of course. It is very glitter packed, so the finish is a bit gritty. If that bothers you, I’d recommend wearing two or three coats of top coat, but I liked it with just one. Here I’m wearing two coats of Midas Touch. Isn’t it amazing?!

El primer esmalte que probé fue The Midas Touch (El toque de Midas). ¡Un nombre GRANDIOSO! Fue como usar oro en las uñas. Este esmalte tiene un montón de hexágonos dorados, algunas estrellas doradas (no son difíciles de encontrar) y glitters dorados sobre una base dorada, obviamente. Tiene muchísimo glitter, así que el acabado es rugoso. Si esto te molesta, recomiendo usar dos o tres capas de top coat, pero a mí me gustó con una sola. Acá estoy usando dos capas de Midas Touch. ¿No les parece divino?

Then I tried Upvotes & Downvotes (inspired by Reddit, a website I know nothing of!), which combines irregular red and blue glitter with tiny white glitter and white bars. I’m not a fan of bars, but this look is really cool. You can wear it over almost anything. I decided to try it over two colors: Avon’s Sunshine and A England’s Dorian Gray. Then I painted one coat of Upvotes & Downvotes and finished with China Glaze Matte Magic. I think I wasn’t in the mood for something sparkly, and this was just perfect!

Luego probé Upvotes & Downvotes (inspirado por Reddit, ¡una web sobre la que no sé nada!), el cual combina glitters rojos y azules de forma irregular con glitter blanco chiquito y barritas blancas. No soy fanáticas de las barritas, pero este estilo es genial. Lo podés usar con casi cualquier cosa. Decidí probarlo sobre dos colores: Sunshine de Avon y Dorian Gray de A England. Luego pinté una capa de Upvotes & Downvotes y terminé con Matte Magic de China Glaze. Creo que no estaba con ganas de algo brilloso, ¡así que me vino perfecto!

I’m very happy with both polishes. The amount of glitter is so generous that you don’t need to fish for glitter or paint a lot of coats for opacity, which is a huge plus, especially when you get minis.

World Autism Awareness Day

This is a quick post because I have homework to do and a concert to attend.

Today is World Autism Awareness Day, and I decided to join Todos Mis Esmaltes’ challenge by doing a little mani featuring the colors of the logo. It was suppose to be a gradient, but it was a disaster. What I wanted to say with my manicure is that integration is the most important thing when we are talking about any disease or disability. There is nothing more terrible than being left out by your own society.

For my design I used Avon Sunshine, Positivo Verde Agua Claro, Colorama Tapete Vermelho and Color Full Azul Mediteráneo Mate. Even though it’s not great, I had fun doing it, so I’m going to try another gradient soon.

Este es un post rápido porque tengo que hacer tarea e ir a un recital.

Hoy es el Día del Autismo, y decidí unirme al reto de Todos Mis Esmaltes haciendo una pequeña manicura con los colores del logo. Se suponía que era un gradiente, pero fue un desastre. Lo que quería decir con mi manicura es que la integración es lo más importante cuando hablamos de cualquier enfermad o discapacidad. No hay nada más terrible que ser excluido de tu propia sociedad.

Pueden ver todos los diseños divinos que hizo la gente ACÁ.

Para mi diseño usé Sunshine de Avon, Verde Agua Claro de Positivo, Tapete Vermelho de Colorama y Azul Mediteráneo Mate de Color Full. Aunque no quedó grandioso, igual me divertí mucho haciéndolo, así que voy a intentar otro gradiente pronto.

Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet + LynBDesigns Don’t Blink

Happy Easter, guys!! I’m so sorry for the lack of posts. In my defense, I tried to blog yesterday, but my computer decided to die. I think it’s time for us to move on separate paths. Her path goes through the window. And yes, it’s a she. Her name was River Tam-Song. That will teach me not to name my devices after mentally unbalanced characters.

Also, the flu got me on Monday and it’s been disgusting. I’m just feeling a tiny bit better, but that must be because of DOCTOR WHO! It’s back! And what a better way of celebrating it wearing this awesome glitter bomb by LynBDesigns called Don’t Blink. It’s inspired by one of the best episodes of Doctor Who, and I love it because it’s not gray as some other polishes inspired by this same episode.

I love how gorgeous it looks over Mint Sorbet. I was dying to try this shade, by the way! I saw it on Dark Euridice’s nails and I needed it bad! Here I’m wearing two coats of Mint Sorbet, one of Don’t Blink and finished with one coat of top coat.

¡Felices Pascuas, gente! Perdón por la falta de posts. En mi defensa, intenté postear ayer, pero mi computadora decidió morir. Creo que es hora de que vayamos por caminos separados. El de ella va por la ventana. Y sí, digo que es una mujer. Se llamaba River Tam-Song. Eso me va a enseñar a no nombrar a mis aparatos con el nombre de personajes desequilibrados mentalmente.

Además, me engripé el lunes y fue un asco. Me estoy sintiendo un poco mejor, pero debe ser por DOCTOR WHO. ¡Volvió! Y qué mejor manera de celebrarlo que usarlo esta bomba glitter de LynBDesigns llamada Don’t Blink. Está inspirada en uno de los mejores episodios de Doctor Who, y me encanta porque no es gris, como lo son otros esmaltes inspirados por el mismo episodio.

Me encanta lo divino que se ve con Mint Sorbet. Por cierto, ¡me morí por probar este color! Lo vi en las uñas de Dark Euridice y lo necesitaba como loca. Acá estoy usando dos capas de Mint Sorbet, una de Don’t Blink y terminé con otra de top coat.
